Episode 40: Social Studies

November 21, 2006

Welcome to our 40th Episode!

Several months ago, we asked Social Studies to send us a song for our August Monthly Local Mix. Over the next few weeks, we ended up playing that song, “Sparrow,” repeatedly over here. Seeing the band live at the Make-Out Room didn’t help quench our demand for more Social Studies. Their live show is loaded with frenetic energy, a dynamic sound, and some very fancy outfits. At that point we realized, we must sit down, meet these people, and share their music with everyone.

A few weeks ago we were privileged to sit down with Aaron, Natalia, Darren and Mike over at The Bay Bridged headquarters to discuss their first release, This is the World’s Biggest Hammer, in what turned out to be one of our most memorable interviews. We also got to hear about their take on playing live, how hundreds of multi-color tambourines became apart of the band, and even attempted to crack open a bottle of champagne in celebration of the albums printing. This is a great interview that also has four tracks played off of This is the World’s Biggest Hammer for all to enjoy!

Social Studies have a bunch of shows coming up throughout the area and we highly recommend checking one of them out!
