Episode 52: The New Trust

February 20, 2007

Welcome back!

We drove up to Santa Rosa last weekend to interview The New Trust, an indie-rock four piece from Santa Rosa who are this week’s featured act. We sat down with Josh, Sara and Julia from the band to discuss their excellent new album Dark Is The Path Which Lies Before Us, available on Slowdance Records.

The album marks a significant development from the band’s only other recording, the 2003 EP We are fast-moving motherfuckers. We are women and men of action., and features thirteen tight, energetic songs evocative of indie rock classics mixed with the enthusiasm and passion of punk. The lyrics are frequently dark, discussing issues of politics and religion in a thoughtful and haunting manner.

As an added treat, the band gave us “Those Incessant Bells”, a song you can only hear here or find on the limited edition 7″ box set version of Dark Is The Path Which Lies Before Us. To purchase the new CD or the box set, head on over to Slowdance Records.

Before heading on a national tour, The New Trust will be participating in the Noise Pop Festival next week:

Wednesday, February 28th
Great American Music Hall
w/ Sebadoh, The Bent Moustache, Love of Diagrams
8pm, $18

Thanks for listening. We’ll be be back next Tuesday and should be deploying some cool new features in the near future, so stick around!
