This week we return to our regular weekly programming with a podcast episode dedicated to the music of Tempo No Tempo. This young Berkeley-based quartet has been drawing a lot of local and national attention with their latest EP The Get Down.

The EP is an exciting record, mixing elements of punk, post-punk and dance-rock to create a sound reminiscent of bands like Q and Not U, but with a bit more explosiveness, as songs twist and turn with an intensity and precision that beg to be seen and heard in a live setting, something we’re excited to witness next week.

We sat down with Tyler and Chris from the band recently at The Bay Bridged Headquarters to discuss the band’s debut and where they hope to take Tempo No Tempo in the future. The short answer to that question is more touring and a new EP to be released late this year. Despite the band’s self-effacing responses during the interview, Tyler and Chris sound truly excited about the band’s next steps, and we are as well. Take a listen to the episode for all of the details, as well as four tracks from The Get Down.

To hear more Tempo No Tempo, head on over to their MySpace page, where you can also pick up The Get Down. The band’s next show is one we’re quite excited about:

Thursday, May 31st
The Rickshaw Stop
$8, 8pm, All Ages
w/ Social Studies and The Lovely Public (The Bay Bridged Presents!)

You can purchase advance tickets to the concert at Virtuous.com! It’ll be a great show and we hope to see you there!
