The Botticellis: “Here I Go Again” (Whitesnake cover)

January 12, 2009

The Botticellis

The Botticellis recently contributed a recording to the Barcelona-based Buffetlibre DJs“Rewind” project, a ongoing collection of indie and underground artists covering a wide variety of 70s, 80s, and 90s hits. The Botts are covering British hard rock band Whitesnake’s hit “Here I Go Again,” redeeming an otherwise jocky jam with an understated, beautiful performance.

From the site:

Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?

I was really into 80s hair metal in elementary school, it was my rebellion against classical violin. I thought it would be fun to transform a three-chord power-ballad into something a little more subtle & harmonically interesting.

It’s worth diving into the Rewind site, as there are a number of great covers there, including Starfucker’s take on “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and Sportsday Megaphone’s “Ever Fallen In Love”.
