Our Noise Pop 2009 coverage is ramping up here over the next few weeks, and some recent announcements definitely merit your attention:
First, the festival’s schedule has been updated again, with a bunch of great local bands added to the lineup, including David Dondero, Built For The Sea, Mike Relm, Wallpaper. and more.
Two free shows aren’t on the calendar yet, but both look pretty great:
- The opening night party with Deerhunter and Lilofee at the Mezzanine on February 24th. It’s free for badge holders; for the general public, it looks like you can already RSVP here.

Deerhunter – “Crytograms”
- A free show at the downtown Apple Store on February 28th, featuring Themselves, Rainbow Arabia, Yoni Wolf and Boy In Static. This show is being presented by Terrorbird and XLR8R.

Themselves – “It’s Them”
Additionally, there’s a art show opening this Thursday, January 29th at Mini Bar titled The Art of Noise Pop – A Retrospective of Festival Posters, Photos and Design. The show features photos and posters from the festival’s seventeen years, along with works from the visual artists who have created the fest’s designs. The opening party kicks off at 7pm.
