New concert series LA[Heart]SF starts Saturday at El Rio

What a way to solve geographical differences: introducing a new concert series, LA[Heart]SF, sponsored by blogging pals New and Used Records (SF) and Radio Free Silverlake (LA). The mission is to bring together the LA and SF scenes by alternating shows in the cities each month, inviting local heroes up and down the coast.

The partnership kicks off in San Francisco at El Rio this Saturday with Bay Bridged favorites Birds & Batteries and French Miami, and visiting from down south will be The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra. The show starts at 9pm with a $7 cover.

So we already know and love French Miami and Birds & Batteries, but who’s The Flying Tourbillion Orchestra, besides a long and elusive name? Well, they’re a whopping six-member band, melody-wealthy and eclectic. Try this one out:
