Jonathan Richman: upcoming Make-Out Room residency

Indie elder statesman Jonathan Richman returns to the Make-Out Room next week for a four night residency from the 20th through the 23rd (all shows 8pm, $15). Jonathan and drummer Tommy Larkins recently produced singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt’s upcoming album, Skitter On Take-Off, out October 6th. Richman and Larkins are expected to return to the studio soon to record the follow-up to 2008’s Because Her Beauty Is Raw and Wild, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

In the meantime, Richman picked a collection of his favorite songs recorded for Rounder Records. Vampire Girl: Essential Recordings comes out on Tuesday. And on October 6th, The Modern Lovers will be reissued on vinyl courtesy of 4 Men With Beards.
