The latest update from Noise Pop HQ about the 2010 festival includes a whole bunch of potential highlights. While Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band may be the biggest name in the new announcement (billed as one of the band’s three US performances in 2010, and featuring Cornelius, Yuka Honda and Sean Lennon), it’s difficult not to be most psyched at the prospect of a collaborative performance between The Dodos and the Magik*Magik Orchestra. Says Noise Pop, as if to taunt our anticipation:
The Dodos & Magik*Magik Orchestra Collaborative Performance will be a one of a kind exclusive performance. The Magik*Magik Orchestra will be composing 10 arrangements of Dodos songs all featuring the band and various members of the orchestra. The orchestra is a 26-piece formation that includes a small women’s choir, strings, winds, brass and percussion.
Tickets for this Thursday, February 25th show at the Palace of Fine Arts go on sale this Sunday.
Other locals confirmed for the fest include Deerhoof, The Fresh and Onlys, The Mumlers, The Hot Toddies, and Tempo No Tempo, as well as reunion performances by SF’s P.E.E. and Sacramento’s Far. On the out-of-town front, !!!, Harlem, Scout Niblett, Mirah, and Laura Gibson are among the boatload of new names. Still more bands will be added as the fest approaches.
