The Bay Bridged Presents: John Vanderslice and the Magik*Magik Orchestra performing White Wilderness

We have to lead this week’s recommendations with this show on Friday, a one-time-only opportunity to see John Vanderslice and the Magik*Magik Orchestra perform White Wilderness the way it was recorded, with a thirty-piece orchestra and choir. The show, at the historic Herbst Theatre on June 17th (8pm, $20), also celebrates Magik*Magik’s third birthday. You don’t want to miss it!

John Maus tours behind We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves

Minnesotan John Maus composes emotive, haunted new wave music, and his new album, We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves, comes out on June 28th. Maus’ US tour kicks off at the Brick and Mortar Music Hall on Saturday, June 18th (9pm, $7/10). Puro Instinct and Geneva Jacuzzi will also be performing.

Spend Saturday afternoon on the El Rio patio on June 18th (4pm, $8), where Ears of the Beholder will be hosting a local electronic indie pop show featuring Blackbird Blackbird, Phantom Kicks, Old Arc (from Santa Cruz), Yalls and a DJ set by Soft Metals.

In celebration of the release of their great new SF compilation, City Limits Presents: San Francisco, City Limits Records takes over Milk Bar on Friday night (8pm, $12), with a show featuring Maus Haus, Exrays, The Sandwitches and Fiveng, with a DJ set from Kites Sail High.     The new Times New Viking record is slick. Their live performances are fun. I would recommend them in either this post or the expanded concert list.
