Benefit show and album for late SF musician Jesse Morris

November 11, 2011

Muni Diaries reported earlier this week that local musician Jesse Morris passed away on Sunday night. Morris performed locally with his band Jesse Morris and the Man Cougars, but you might also have known him as the “Punk Rock Johnny Cash” whose busking in BART stations brightened many travelers’ days.

Yesterday, Different Fur Studios posted the above recordings, from an uncompleted country album Morris had worked on in 2008. All sales will go to paying for his memorial service. Tonight, there’s a benefit show for Morris’ family at the Uptown, with The Grannies, The UNdead Boys, and Neutralboy performing.

Our deepest condolences to Jesse Morris’ loved ones. If you’d want to share memories of Morris, people have been sharing nice stories and thoughts in the comments over at Muni Diaries.
