Royal Baths – “Darling Divine”

After hosting the band’s terrific, final SF show, we were all the sadder to see Royal Baths leave for Brooklyn. The band recently announced that Kanine Records will be releasing Better Luck Next Life in February. The moody, Velvetsy “Darling Divine” is the first track released from the new album. If you’re looking for more Royal Baths, head over to nyctaper to check out a recent live set.

Speakeasy Brewery is holding a ‘Punk Swap Meet’ on Saturday

December 16, 2011

This Saturday from 1-6pm, Speakeasy Brewery will transform into a “Punk Swap Meet.” As always, beer on tap comes at a great price ($3), there will be food by Eagle Dog, and a variety of vendors will setup shop selling anything from records and zines to clothes and crafts. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a tape to exchange! We like mixtape exchanges…especially ones where you pull your tape out of a hat!

More information can be found on the event’s FB page. Signing up to sell may still be possible, so if interested, get in contact.

Weekend – “The One You Want”

December 16, 2011

Weekend – The One You Want by Slumberland Records

For all the epic noise on Sports, Weekend showed an equal aptitude for compact pop songs on Red. Like “Hazel” — surely a finalist for jam of the year — “The One You Want” is a melodic noise-pop hit from one of our favorite local bands.

Weekend will be performing at The New Parish with The Soft Moon on February 1st (9pm, $12).
