Jon Porras (of Barn Owl) announces solo album on Thrill Jockey

Jon Porras (one half of the minimalist guitar drone duo Barn Owl) will drop his newest solo album and Thrill Jockey debut Black Mesa on April 17. Recorded at home and in his practice space, the LP promises plenty more of the dark, atmospheric guitar and ambient drone Barn Owl uses to great effect.
According to the press release, the seven track new album was “inspired by the hazy Americana of Sandy Bull, Popol Vuh and Neil Young, [as] Black Mesa endeavors to explore the depths of drone and ambient music.”
