Brewers of the Bay Brewed 2012: MateVeza

One of the newer local breweries to join us at The Bay Brewed, MateVeza, features a strong line of beers all created around a single ingredient: Yerba Mate. What is normally found in fancier coffee shops around the City and known for its ability to provide an “all day happy feeling”, the brewers at MateVeza have found a way to blend Yerba Mate with a variety of hops and malts to produce several unique artisanal beers.
Their current lineup consists of their Organic India Pale Ale (7% ABV/60 IBU), Organic Black Lager (5.2% ABV/25 IBU), and Morpho (6% ABV/0 IBU) a current limited release. All of these are USDA certified organic and on top of that they are naturally caffeinated from the Yerba Mate — each 12oz bottle contains the same amount of caffeine as a half a cup of coffee.
