Like we told you last week, Bay Area bands love the holidays and make plenty of music to celebrate. Here’s another round of Christmas tunes from our local artists for you to enjoy.
To kick things off, Cocktails released a sweet, original garage-rock Christmas tune, and they’re playing a holiday show tonight with DSTVV and others! Details are at the bottom of the page.
Fantastic bluegrass band The Parmesans actually recorded a special Christmas medley just because they heard of last week’s post post (and because they are awesome). Stream or download here:
A newcomer to the scene, R&B crooner Marqiss wants to “snuggle on Christmas” in “Holiday Love”. The track is part of the Hashtag Christmas compilation, which is giving all proceeds from downloads to the Swords to Plowshares charity.
Do you like your Christmas music cheesy, irreverent, and loud? In that case, talented multi-instrumentalist and rapper Satellite High‘s Kidd Luv project playing “Plug In, Turn Up, It’s Christmas” may be just what you need. Just don’t try to take it too seriously or play it in front of Grandma:
Since we’ve made it through the Mayan apocalypse, we should treat ourselves to Art Elliot‘s “A Post Apocalyptic Christmas”:
Rin Tin Tiger adds just a little bit of twang to the classic “Let It Snow”:
The Bang laid down an acoustic cover of Darlene Love’s “(Christmas) Baby Please Come Home”:
Growwler takes on the same track, but puts a completely different spin on it that still works great:
Is your holiday party just feeling too…normal? Maybe Sleeve of a Wizard‘s “Gunther the Christmas Cat” is just what you need?
“Xmas Lights” from Swells is great for when the egg nog is running low and the party is winding down:
Finally, Foxtails Brigade has a wonderful video accompanying their chamber-pop original “Winter’s Feat”:
Happy Holidays, Bay Area!
