Ticket Giveaway: Two Gallants return to The Fillmore on 2/2/13 with Akron/Family and Future Twin (watch Two Gallants’ recent Take Away Show)

After touring Europe and playing a few East Coast gigs at the end of 2012, San Francisco folk-rock duo Two Gallants will soon head out on a West Coast tour that caps off with a hometown gig at the Fillmore on February 2nd with Akron/Family and Future Twin supporting. Oh yeah, and the fine folks at the historic venue were nice enough to give us a pair of tickets as a prize for one lucky fan who will attend the band’s first show at the corner of Geary and Fillmore since 2008 free-of-charge.
Fresh off a year that saw the release of Two Gallants’ fourth LP The Bloom and the Blight and non-stop touring (more than 100 shows, by this writer’s count), Adam Stephens and Tyson Vogel are charging into the New Year. In addition to charting their upcoming tour, they also recently revealed that they recorded and released a Take Away Show for French blog La Blogothèque before the calendar turned. If you’re unfamiliar with the Take Away Shows (or Les Concerts à Emporter, as it were), they are a series of mini-shows originally filmed by French filmmaker Vincent Moon (born Mathieu Saura) where the subject musician or band plays stripped-down, often public performances of some of their most well-known tracks. Although you can’t go wrong with any of the performances, standout sets from the series’ 100-plus episodes include Yeasayer, Sigur Rós, and the much-heralded Bon Iver.
