About Us

Founded in 2006, the San Francisco-based nonprofit project The Bay Bridged has become recognized nationwide as the leading source for San Francisco Bay Area independent music through our award-winning music blog and podcast series, as well as a series of acclaimed music festival events.

Led by a talented team of writers and photographers, TheBayBridged.com delivers an international readership the best of cutting-edge independent music through a uniquely West Coast lens. The site has been repeatedly recognized as the “Best Arts or Music Website” and “Best Music Blog” by the SF Weekly and the SF Bay Guardian. Our award-winning podcast series, which is syndicated through KQED.org, offers monthly previews of upcoming concerts as well as thematic mixtapes highlighting emerging trends in local music.

Our devoted readership is augmented by a significant social media following and a reputation for uncompromising excellence. Original content produced for our site has been featured on Pitchfork and Stereogum, and in publications like Rolling Stone.

The Bay Bridged has also developed a robust calendar of annual live music events, including perennial favorites the Phono del Sol Music & Food Festival, the Rock Make Street Festival, and The Bay Brewed: A Rock & Roll Beer Festival. Over the years, we have also produced events in conjunction with the Noise Pop Festival, the Treasure Island Music Festival, and the Mission Creek Music & Arts Festival, and staged several successful Bay Area-themed parties at the annual South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas.

Our unwavering commitment to creating affordable all ages events means that our festivals are funded, in significant part, by a variety of sponsors. Our development team understands how to help our sponsors achieve brand exposure through engagement in our events. Bay Bridged events have also been supported by private donations and grants from the San Francisco Arts Commission and the San Francisco Parks Alliance.

Conflicts Policy

Directors and staff of The Bay Bridged are involved in a variety of musical and other creative projects in the San Francisco Bay Area scene, including some that receive coverage on our web site. No Bay Bridged contributor will write about a project in which he or she has a pecuniary or creative interest, and decisions about covering or booking projects involving Bay Bridged staff are made without the involvement of interested parties.
