Not to boast or anything, but seriously, how much fun was The Bay Brewed? A hearty thanks to everyone who attended SF’s first ever indie rock and roll beer festival, as well as to everyone involved in making the afternoon so memorable. Enjoy these great photos and videos from last weekend’s sold-out event, although, fair warning: they might make you a little hungry and thirsty. [More...]

We’ve experimented with different sorts of music pairing events over the years. Bands and crafts. Bands and food. Bands and art. Bands and mixtapes. But behind all of those, there’s one pairing we’ve been dreaming about for years: bands and beer.

As much as we enjoy a good tall boy, The Bay Bridged has a serious love for the Bay Area’s great local craft breweries. Bands and beers go together like, well, bands and beers, and we’ve long wanted to throw an event combining the best of both worlds.

Introducing The Bay Brewed, coming to The Verdi Club in San Francisco on Saturday, December 3rd from 2-7pm. Think of it as a beer festival for indie rock and roll fans, or a rock and roll festival for beer connoisseurs.

Either way, here’s the deal: your ticket purchase includes performances by four great local rock bands — Weekend, Sleepy Sun, Extra Classic, and Terry Malts — and a commemorative mug that gets you unlimited beer tastings all day long from an array of awesome local breweries. In partnership with the City Beer Store and the SF Brewers Guild, you’ll be sampling beer from and meeting the brewers behind 21st Amendment, Anchor Brewing, Ale Industries, Beach Chalet, Drake’s Brewing, Lagunitas, Magnolia, Marin Brewing Company, Social Kitchen & Brewery, and Speakeasy. Plus, you’ll be able to purchase some delicious local food from Rosamunde Sausage Grill, a place that knows a little something about what hungry beer drinkers like to eat.

The Bay Brewed is no normal show. It’s an opportunity to enjoy the best of two areas of local excellence. We hope you’ll join us for an event that has been years in the making for The Bay Bridged. We are really, really excited for this.

Monday: SF Mayoral Candidates Discuss Music and Nightlife (with performances by Bob Mould and Zoë Keating)

Bob Mould – “City Lights (Days Go By)”

The vibrancy of the San Francisco music scene doesn’t just depend on the talents of the City’s many musicians. City policies and practices can have a serious impact on local artists’ quality of life and on the venues where they perform. Things like the enforcement of noise ordinances, the availability of affordable housing, gentrification, and venue and event permitting matter, and when you’re voting for San Francisco’s next mayor this November, we hope you’ll be informed about where the candidates stand on these and other important issues.

To that end, we’re happy to co-sponsor a Recording Academy/CMAC-hosted forum featuring candidates for Mayor of San Francisco discussing music and nightlife-related issues. The event is free, and it takes place Monday, October 3rd at The Fillmore (6pm doors, 6:30 start). If you’re leery of just hearing people talk about music, though, you’ll probably be excited to know that there will also be live music! In addition to the forum, there will also be performances by Bob Mould and Zoë Keating!

Again, admission is free, but you have to RSVP here.

On the music front, we’re psyched to have performances by locals Melted Toys and ChuCha Santamaria Y Usted, as well as a DJ set by Elephant and Castle. Volunteers at Rock Make 2010, by Charlie Homo

Rock Make 2011 is just around the corner (Saturday, September 17th!). We would not be able to accomplish events such as Rock Make and Phono del Sol without the generous help of our volunteers — on that note, we are putting out an official call for volunteers for Rock Make 2011!

Volunteer roles for this year’s festival will include donation taking, guest interaction, bartending and other general assistance. If you are interesting in helping out on the 17th, please email volunteers@thebaybridged.com as soon as possible with your name, phone number and email. We look forward to working with you!
