Introducing: the food and art of Regional Bias 2010

July 20, 2010

There’s a reason to show up early, and hungry — Regional Bias will kick off at 7pm with an art show and delicious food prepared by local chef Morgan Maki. Friday’s menu will be a smoked beef in jus sandwich, and the vegetarian option will be mushroom duxelle with horseradish aioli, crispy onions and arugula, both on a focaccia slab.

Morgan Maki has a long culinary history; in his own words, he started out delivering pizzas and washing a ton of dishes in Missouri before attending culinary school in Vermont. Next, Maki cooked in Boston, cut meat in Montana and moved to San Francisco, where he now instructs on the art of meat cutting, among other things, at 18 Reasons and doubles as the neighborhood butcher in the Bi-Rite Market. For more on the man behind the food, check out this piece SFoodie ran on Maki last year.

Along with delicious sandwiches, early-birds to Regional Bias can enjoy the creative output of The Bay Bridged’s photographers, contributors and website banner artists, all selling work within the affordable range of $15-300. The art show will include prints and original fine art pieces from our current banner artist Nidhi Chanani as well as Michael Thurston, Amy Woloszyn and many more. If you’ve ever seen a shot of a musician at a local club on our website that looks more like a fine art painting than a digital photo, it was probably the work of our famed photographer Charlie Homo, who will have select prints for sale on Friday:
